This record is heavy from start to finish, and out of all of the people who I know that listen to this genre of music, not that many people are into this record... It's a shame, really, on account of how good it is. This album has one of the most epic beginning 30 seconds, and that epic-ness only carries on throughout the record. Anti-religion charged anthems pump through this record, MPB has a message to spread and they're most definitely not afraid.
If you hate God and love hardcore... Download this CD.
Even if you love God, I'm sure you can still appreciate how heavy this CD is.

Quotables:
"Master your fear."

"Crippled by selective memory, choose which lie to believe."

"Do you believe in Hell below? This is arguably the best record released by Toronto hardcore legends, No Warning. Every song is hard, every song is mad, every song is amazing. This record is through and through hardcore at it's finest. Ben Cook makes everything sound so much angrier, combined with his "hate-the-world" lyrics, this CD makes you want to mosh or be moshed. No Warning is probably one of the most recognized hardcore outfits to ever come out of Toronto, so download this record and get into it.
If you don't know, act like you know.
Also, if you're familiar with bands such as Guns Up! and Cold World, they both ripped on No Warning pretty hard so if you like them, then you should definitely be into this record.

Quotables:
"Everybody knows, everybody talks, everybody sees but no one's saying nothing."

"Never forget, never forgive."

2002

1. Heavy, not in the sense in which I would usually use on this blog, but in the sense that each song on this record hits home, one way or another. Whether it be Immortal lyrically insulting the listener on the opening track "Creation and Destruction" or the story told in dramatic fashion on the song "Dance With The Devil". Either way, this record is Hip Hop at it's finest, if you're into well constructed, well executed records of rap music, you'll be into this record. This is probably one of my favourite Immortal Technique records to date, although his newest record is pretty absurd, as well. Listen to this, though, I promise you won't be let down.

Quotables:
"Immortal Technique, the wrong motherfucker to diss. And having watched them grow, I can inform you that this is a very impressive release for them. This record is catchy, fast, and heavy. Highlights for me are the song "In Health" featuring guest vocals of the very sexy, Matt Tobin. I find it kind of lulls in some of the softer, more melodic parts and it sort of brings the feel of the entire record down. The heavy parts, though, send chills down my spine. This is a local band, so download the CD, go buy it a show or buy a t-shirt or whatever the fuck bands are selling these days.
Either way, this is certainly a long way from Hugs and High Fives.

2008

For Fans of: Norma Jean, Botch, Scarlet

1. So, I took it upon myself to explore one of their largest influences, Stay Gold. AT very first listen, you can definitely tell they were a large influence for KTD. Doom, down, heavy and creepy. Gothic hardcore band, The Banner, shows their true colours on this release. The CD sounds heavy in so many different aspects, from the creepy, almost haunting beginning of the song "The Wolf" to the melodic and powerful, "Dusk". This CD is a must listen-to. If you have any stigma about this band, whatsoever, throw it aside.. They came out with this in 1993 and registered a revolutionary sound within the mainstream music stream. I find that this record is probably one of the easiest Pumpkins' records to listen to as it's one of the heavier/more catchy CD's. I'm sure there is tracks that all of you will recognize, such as "Today" and "Disarm", both great tracks... But make sure to listen to the CD in its entirety. This CD has so much to offer and it is often under-rated.

Check it out, for sure.

1993

1. Hardcore, and dare I say a tiny bit of a bluesy influence? No, I won't... But you can sort of hear that, especially in the newer record which I will up at a later date. I know I say this a lot, but this band is one of my favourites. And this is also one of my favourite EP's that Blacklisted has put out. Angry music with great lyrics, well composed...
I could sing this band's praises for days.
Just listen to it and hear for yourself.

Quotables

"I faced an army of myself and I failed."

"Don't care about my generation.
Don't care if I stand or fall.
Don't care about my reputation.
I'm chasing aspirations I never saw."

Must listen to tracks: Long Way Home, That Ain't Real Much

2004

1- Long Way Home
2- Finding Faith
3- That Ain't Real Much
4- Crossed Fingers
5- 3800 (We're Unstoppable)
6- Transparant- Opaque

Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?tnhnktr0jwk

Valencia- We All Need A Reason To Believe

This is the band's second full length. It's not necessarily leaps and bounds from their first album... But I'd definitely say this band has grown. A little bit more mature sounding, Valencia releases this cd with a little bit less of a powerpop feel and a little bit more of a rock sounding record. Could it be they're trying to go mainstream? Who knows. They still swear, so that's cool. One thing that turns me off from this record is a lot of the lyrics sounds super uplifting and positive, and it might just be the pessimist in me, but I usually like hearing sad and/or angry songs. I guess it's sort of hard to make depressing powerpop music, so I'll cut them some slack. Other than that, this is a solid cd.

For Fans of: Cartel, All Time Low, Forever The Sickest Kids

1- Better Be Prepared
2- Holiday
3- Where Did You Go?
4- Head In Hands
5- Carry On
6- All At Once
7- Safe To Say
8- Listen Up
9- I Can't See Myself
10- The Good Life
11- Free

Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?zdcnmvuqcm3

A Rocket To The Moon- Greetings From...

So, to be honest, I don't really know much about this guy. I found his cd on this powerpop blogspot I check every now and then when I'm in the mood for catchy, fun music... And that's exactly what I found. Although, there are some weak parts in the songs, for the most part this is super catchy, super good powerpop. Check it out, for sure.

Must listen to tracks: If Only You Knew, I'm Not Saying Goodbye

Breather Resist- Only In The Morning

Breather Resist, although a short-lived span in the music industry had a huge impact on a lot of bands that you're hearing today.
Brutal, techy, progressive metalcore.
This CD is probably one of my favourite to put on and listen to in its entirety, and with a run time of like 18 minutes or something like that, it's certainly not hard to stay interested.
Brutal metalcore that you need to listen to.
This band is so under-rated and slept on that when I mentioned Young Widows (a couple of the members' new project) as an Ex- Breather Resist band, some people draw a blank.
It's depressing.
So, educate yourself.
Get into this band, for my I first really got into, but it's nonetheless a great album.
Super catchy, super rocky, I wouldn't really even consider it poppy... I guess that his vocals are a little bit, but the music itself is just fun, rock music.
I've literally had this CD, amongst a few of their others, on repeat for past week and a bit.
It's extrememly relaxing at times, but also upbeat and fun at others.
Such a good band, and I'll probably upload some of their other cds at a later date.
Check them out!

Must Listen To Tracks- Theatre, The Guilt Engine, Fable

2005

1- Theatre
2- Pompeii
3- The Guilt Engine
4- A Mind Of Metal And Wheels
5- Fable
6- The Giant's Drink
7- Shhhh! If you've heard their newer records, you'll no exactly what I'm talking about, it all sounds like shitty, thrashy, nu-metal (and not cool, fun thrashy... Bad thrashy). But if you've generalized this band as shitty on account of their newer stuff, I defnitely wouldn't blame you, but don't hesitate to check this album out, it's older, heavier and just tons of fun, in general. This is definitely the last good record this band has released, but it's not the only one. If you're into this you can also check out some of their pre-All Hail The Dead such as Bound Feed The Gagged. One thing I HATE about this album is in a couple of songs Candice sings over her yelling and it sounds awullll. If only this band was still making music like this, I might actually spend money to go see them when they come through.

Must Listen To Tracks: A Little Piece Of Me

2004

1- All Hail The Dead
2- There's No I In Fuck You
3- A Little Piece Of Me
4- Another Anthem For The Hopeless
5- Revival Never Goes Out Of Style
6- Day And A Thousand Years
7- Through The Eyes Of A Dreamer
8- 1:43 AM
9- Jaded
10- Thanks For The Memories
11- More Life In The Monitors
12- Fixing Broken Hearts
13- To Be Continued...

Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?bjgwmwmzyht

The Almost- Southern Weather

So, I haven't uploaded anything soft in awhile, so here it is. The Almost is a side project of Aaron Gillespie, the drummer of Underoath, and it's a little bit softer, well it's a lot softer than what Underoath has most recently released. The album is passionate and great to listen to. My only beef with the album is that it's kind of overly-Christian... But so is most of the stuff Underoath has released. Now, I don't listen to Underoath THAT much but on this record he uses the word "Jesus" a lot... I'm not really into that. But the record, that aside, is really good.
Check it out

1- Say This Sooner
2- Drive There Now
3- Dirty And Leftout
4- I Mostly Copy Other People
5- Southern Weather
6- Stop It
7- Amazing, Because It Is
8- Everyone Here Smells Like A Rat
9- Never Say I Told You Say
10- Call Me Back When I'm Honest
11- Everything Makes Me Sick

Download- http://www.mediafire.com/?nqtzytki0z2

Until The End- Blood In The Ink

Another necessity in a hardcore fan's album collection, this album features renowned vocalist Mean Pete who has more recently sang for metalcore outfits such as Remembering Never and (unfortunately) xBishopx. This is brutal, straight forward, in your face straight edge hardcore. It's heavy and the heaviness doesn't stop from track 1 to track 10, this whole cd is just straight up... Well, for a lack of better words, straight up heavy. Hands down, Until The End is one of the most recognized and respected hardcore/metal outfits. So check this album out, it's worth it, trust me.

Quotables:
"Drive nails through my wrists, I'll die for my beliefs.
Push them into the wounds, I'll die for my beliefs.
This world won't break me, I'll die for my beliefs."

"There is nothing between us but oceans of bad blood."

"I'll fall to my knees and pray for your death."

2001

For Fans Of: Hatebreed, Sepultra, Terror

1- Driving This Car Head-First Into a Wall
2- Death Disguised As Salvation
3- Eyes and Ash
4- Free of Filth
5- Nothing Between Us
6- The Look, The Game, The Lies
7- Judas
8- Your Sad Fucking Life
9- Less Than You Deserve
10- Finger On The Trigger

Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?mmdg1otnujh

Converge- Jane Doe, When Forever Comes Crashing, Petitioning The Empty Sky, You Fail Me & No Heroes

So, this isn't as much of a discography of Converge, moreso than it is just a collection of the albums I have on my computer. I've never really gotten into anything pre the earlier albums I have here, because I find it's a pretty large acquired taste. They've also released copious amounts of splits, vinyls, EP's so to generalize anything Converge has a discography is kind of hard... But these are a couple of full lengths. They've been around since 1991, but I'm only showing you a portion of some of the music they've released as the first release I'm uploading is from 1997. Anyways, Converge is another one of my favourites, hands down one of the best progressive metalcore bands of our time (and also one of the first). These albums have laid the tracks for so many other bands and inspired generations of musical listeners to open their ears to new sounds. I don't think anyone who's in to metalcore/hardcore as a genre should have an iTunes Library without these albums. So go ahead, download them, check them all out.

A MINISCULE amount of songs you should listen to: Towing Jehovah, Colour Me Blood Red, Buried But Breathing, Last Light, The Broken Vow, The Saddest Day, Plagues, Orphaned (To name a few)

Also, don't even get me started on Quotables, this band's lyrics are amazing, there's way too many even to narrow it down to just a couple.

Anyways, here's the albums (in chronological order)

Petitioning The Empty Sky

1997

1- The Saddest Day
2- Forsaken
3- Albatross
4- Dead
5- Shingles
6- Buried But Breathing
7- Farewell Note To This City
8- Color Me Blood Red
9- For You (Live)
10- Antithesis (Live)
11- Homesong (Live)
12- Love As Arson (Alternate Bonus Track)

Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?l2yfzjzm2wd

When Forever Comes Crashing

1998

1- My Unsaid Everything
2- The High Cost Of Playing God
3- In Harm's Way
4- Conduit
5- The Lowest Common Denominator
6- Towing Jehovah
7- When Forever Comes Crashing
8- Ten Cents
9- Year Of The Swine
10- Letterbomb
11- Love As Arson
12- Bitter And Then Some (Unreleased Demo Version)

Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?y3mewu4ognz

Jane Doe

2001

1- Concubine
2- Fault and Fracture
3- Distance And Meaning
4- Hell To Pay
5- Homewrecker
6- The Broken Vow
7- Bitter And Then Some
8- Heaven In Her Arms
9- Phoenix In Flight
10- Phoenix In Flames
11- Thaw
12- Jane Doe

Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?qzhlbjnezzm

You Fail Me

2004

1- First Light
2- Last Light
3- Black Cloud
4- Drop Out
5- Hope Street
6- Heartless
7- You Fail Me
8- In Her Shadow
9- When Eagles Become Vultures
10- Death King
11- In Her Blood
12- Hanging Moon

Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?zlezzhmkwhg

No Heroes

2006

1- Heartache
2- Hellbound
3- Sacrifice
4- Vengeance
5- Weight Of The World
6- No Heroes
7- Plagues
8- Grim Heart/Black Rose
9- Orphaned
10- Lonewolves
11- Versus
12- Trophy Scars
13- Bare My teeth
14- To The Lions

Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?23myknmdnyr

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://writtenwrottenrot.blogspot.com/2008/10/converge-jane-doe-when-forever-comes.html' title='Converge- Jane Doe, When Forever Comes Crashing, Petitioning The Empty Sky, You Fail Me & Although, I am not a large fan of the book, I can honestly say I'm a large fan of this band. Hardcore that isn't too thrashy, isn't too chuggy but is a great combination of mid-tempo riffs and great build ups with extremely angry vocals. It kind of reminds me of a less fast, less spanish More To Pride with a hint of Figure Four, as well... So if you're in to those two bands, check this band out... I definitely wouldn't suggest it solely for fans of the novel American Psycho, either... So readers of American Psycho, beware..
This band might not be for you.

For Fans Of: Forfeit, More To Pride, Figure Four, etc

1- Intro
2- Walking Alone
3- Dorsia
4- Enough's Enough
5- Becoming
6- All Is Fair

Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?02inqzdzmzg

Sluts- Sluts

Melodic angry hardcore from.. Only God knows where. I recently just found this band via another music blog that I go on every now and then and I've Myspace searched them/googled them and I really haven't been able to find that much information on this band! But, mysteriousness aside, this band plays some pretty rad music, not necessarily fast, not necessarily slow, but angry, passionate, and all around enjoyable music. I find the name of the band sort of "gimmicky", if you may... But it definitely caught my eye searching throuh the blog lists, and when I downloaded it I was most definitely not let down at all. Also, I'm really feeling the lyrics, tons of quotables and parts that just get stuck in my head... If I'm totally way behind on this band and everybody else has already heard of them... Then bummer, but good on you for being on top of the game.
Anyways, check it out.

For Fans Of: Killing The Dream, Verse, Have Heart

1- Home Is Where The Heart Ends
2- Anthem For The Rats
3- Rocky Marciano
4- The Summer Us
5- Tentatively Titled, "Fuck You, Liz"
6- The Persistence of Flight Despite My Best Efforts With Tow Hooks And Cannons
7- Second Chances and Seconds Wasted
8- Party Line Party Line
9- Inside Jokes And Party Favours

Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?dmfmnnztdiz

Sound The Alarm- Stay Inside

Sound The Alarm is a hidden gem I found, I'm not sure how many people actually know about this band, but I've had this Stay Inside album on my computer for about a year now and I can honestly put it on whenever and I've yet to get sick of it. Tight musicianship, and a great balance of low end screaming vocals and harmonized melodies. This band is sure to have you singing along by the end of the EP, I've barely even listened to and I can pick and choose the parts that I've already got memorized. Although, it is a very well put together CD, the lyrics just don't do it for me, lines like "One more yellow brick through your windshield" and "Dressing in black is becomind a habit", seem over-pretentious and as though they are trying to accomplish much more than what they actually are. That aside, though, great listen. Help these guys out and come out to their debut show in Kitchener on the 24th of October with my great friends in Lifestory:monologue, it should be a great time.

Must Listen to Tracks: Atlantis

2008

For Fans Of: Misery Signals, Architects

1. This is probably one of my favourite releases of the year so far, I've only had it for about a week and the play counts on my iTunes are already reaching upwards of 30 for each song. If you like really fun, generic, music, listen to this album. I'll be honest, it's nothing new or groundbreaking, but it's heavy and catchy, exactly what I look for in the majority of the music I listen to. The lyrics are also a little lacking in substance, but what they lack in substance, they make up for in catchiness. If you're looking for a mindless album that makes you want to hurt people... This is it.

Quotables-
"If I had it my way, I'd slit your throat with the knife that you left in my back."

"Party til you pass out, drink til you're dead, dance all night til you can't feel your legs."

Must Listen To Tracks: Sleep With One Eye Open, The Football Season Is Over, Chelsea Smile

2008

1- The Comedown
2- Chelsea Smile
3- It Was Written In Blood
4- Death Breath
5- Football Season Is Oer
6- Sleep With One Eye Open
7- Diamonds Aren't Forever
8- The Sadness Will Never End
9- No Need For Introductions, I've Read About Girls Like You On The Backs Of Toilet Doors
10- Suicide Season

Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?ly1wt1ntnnm

Scarlet- This Was Always Meant To Fall Apart

Scarlet. What can I say about this band that has not already been said? To fit them in to a genre is almost impossible, I would say something along the lines of progressive metalcore? This album is probably one of my favourite albums to listen to, I can listen to it from front to back and not get sick of one part in any song. The range of the vocals, the catchy riffs, the heavy riffs, ALL of the riffs... Everything on this album is produced perfectly and it results in one of the best metal albums released to date. Crunchy, sludgy, melodic, demonic, angelic... The spectrum of songs on this album is impecable. The lyrics also really stand out, which is almost never the case in a metal/hardcore outfit. But on the North Pole Project, Jeff Schneeweis (frontman/songwriter of band)is left alone after all other band members have moved on to other musical endeavours. This CD was written and recorded entirely by Jeff, every song, every guitar track, every drum track, and so on and so forth (I'm assuming you get the point). An extremely endearing, and almost adventurous musical process has been left to create the album The North Pole Project, a pop rock sensation. The album is filled with catchy hooks, fun choruses, heart-felt ballads, songs you can fall asleep to, and even songs you can scream at the top of your lung... But I realized I couldn't decide which one was my favourite... So here's all of them! Killing The Dream is great melodic hardcore from California, the angriest vocals, heavy guitar tone and some of the best lyrics, in my opinion. This band is probably one of my favourite hardcore bands and if you like super angry, melodic, catchy hardcore you NEED to download all of these albums. This album is filled with sing-alongs, chuggy riffs and breakdowns... But each open stroke just seems to come so naturally to these dudes (and girl). Featuring members of elite hardcore bands such as Comeback Kid and Shattered Realm, Figure Four definitely knows what it takes to make heavy music. For awhile in the early 00's these guys were a staple in Canadian hardcore, but with the success of other projects Figure Four definitely took a backseat and has been inactive for awhile now. "Suffering The Loss" is one of my favourite hardcore releases and definitely my favourite Figure Four release. Listen and enjoy.

Quotables:
"This is not how it ends. This album is a well rounded creation of pop-rock with talented lead guitar riffs, catchy drum fills and top-notch vocals. It's super fun, easy to listen to and an all great album. Songs like "Keeping Pace With Planes" and "Before You Fight This Battle" are sure to be stuck in your head for days to come. For me, it's the perfect driving music and just so easy to listen to. Straight edge hardcore that commands your attention, whether you'd like to give it or not. One of New York's most prominent straight edge outfit, Project X is in your face and won't hesitate to let you know what they think about drinking, drugs, sex or violence in hardcore. The band features members of bands like Judge, Youth Of Today, Gorilla Biscuits and Side by Side; more or less an all-star hardcore line-up. This is hardcore with meaning and a message, which seems to be few and far between these days. So many catchy mashups, it's hard to pick and choose exactly which ones are your favourite, some that stand out would be the new Konvict Music artist Dolla's single "Who The Fuck Is That" hook mixed with Avril Lavigne's annoying hit single "Girlfriend" on the track "Shut The Club Down". Another would be Blackstreet's classic hit "No Diggity" over the new, fresh Kanye West's "Flashing Lights" beat on the track "Still Here". One of the best thorough listens I've heard in the genre, from top to bottom this album is pure genious, crazy time signatures meets in your face metal even combined with some funky jazz sounding parts at times. Arguably one of the best tech metal records released to date, in my opinion, at least. This is a great listen, and I really just wanted to up this so everyone can realize this band isn't as bad as the shit they've been releasing lately. Listen to this, get into it, love it.. This hard-hitting, heavy outfit out of Vancouver breaks through the gates with their debut album "Intimidator", a title that says it all. The title track gets the idea of the entire album across, a 6 minute song that ranges from low-end vocals with chuggy, "smash some-fucking-body" parts to melodic guitars and catchy singing vocals... A well rounded album made by a well rounded band.

Must listen to tracks- Intimitador, Bottomfeeders, The Gospel According To Textbook, Godspeed, Centipede

Quotables:
"Are you a God fearing man?
You should fear me because I am God."

2008

For Fans Of: Converge, Curl Up And Die, Coalesce

1) If You Want Blood...
2) Bottomfeeders
3) WWJOCD
4) Dude, I'm On Alesse...
5) Intimidator
6) The Gospel According To Textbook
7) Who Invited Zetner?
8) Godspeed, Centipede
9) Stay Out Of Riverdale
10) Cathy Rattlesnake
11) Total Immoral
12) Start The Reactor

Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?jdz0zrkz4tt

Dangers- Anger

Fast, meaningful, passion driven hardcore straight out of California. These guys are making angry music that's just oh so hard to dislike. From thrashy, 1:00 minute songs (including voicemails from ex-girlfriends) like "Gashing In" to catchy, memorable tracks like "Power Chord Blues" that are easy to remember and hard to forget. Dangers also captures their audience's attention with their passionate lyrics that always seem to have a story behind them, lines like "I've heard you say wetback/I've heard you say beaner/And behind my back, probably call me a nigger/I don't love you/I don't even like you" can only leave a listener quesitoning what this song is actually about. If you're searching for fast, fun, good hardcore...
